More White Stuff

Here we go again. More of the awful white stuff. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Have I mentioned that I hate it? I do.

Here is a shot from my cell phone. I took this yesterday afternoon while walking back from taking care of mom and dad's driveway. It's a terrible shot, but do you see the fence? No, you don't, but it's there. The snow is almost half way up the 4' fence, and this was hours before the snow was finished falling. Ugh.

This is a shot from this morning. That big lump in the center of the photo? It's my car. I don't think it's going to move from that spot until Spring.

I don't know what we would do without this beast, though:

It's a giant snow thrower, and it just eats up and spits out anything in its path. Snow? Gone. Driveway stones? Gone. We'll find those stones all over the grass after the snow melts. Next summer, while cutting the grass, those driveway stones will be sharp little missiles shot out through the lawn mower's grass chute.

There is one thing, however, that has the power to bring the mighty beast of a snow thrower to its knees. At first glance, it looks like something that was once alive....

...but after closer inspection...

...and much elbow grease...

...all is revealed. It's one of the dogs' ropey toys.

What will I be doing today? I won't be going outside anymore, that's for sure. There is a big pot of rice on the stove for making dog food, and I'll be working on this:

The long-neglected Sock Yarn Blankie that last made an appearance on the blog over a year ago. I have no illusions (or delusions?) about it being finished any time soon, but this seems like a good day to knock out a bunch of squares.

This next shot is for a friend of mine that I haven't seen in 20 years. He found me on the Internet recently through the museum's website, and has since complained that there are no pictures of me on the blog---just the occasional foot while modeling a sock. So, in addition to the photos of my arms getting that ropey toy out of the snow thrower, here I am, using the beast...
You're welcome!

We missed the snow yesterday. We just have a yard full of mud.

Nice photo of you. Did your friend recognize you?

I have a sheep stuck out in the far corner of her paddock. This brilliant creature decided to leave shelter, food, water and companionship and hike out and pose as a snowdrift during the storm.
No idea when she made a break for it, but now we have to plow out to get her. Grrrrrr.

Love it. I'm so sorry you have had so dang much snow, my friend! Hope you got a lot done with the sock yarn blankie. I love that project so much. I suppose some day I start making squares for mine :)

Yep. Snow, snow and now more snow on Tues/Wed. Love it! It makes me feel like a kid. I wanted to make a snowman but it wasn't good packing snow. Maybe the next bit will be good.

Amazing. And luckily, we missed it. Sounds like we may not be so lucky with the next storm on the way...

Make sure you pick up the dogs' poops before you snowblow... you don't want that stuff blowing all over! lol

Ah, a snowblower! Right now E is our snow-mover...and Maddie (one of the dogs), who likes to snow-bathe.

The upside of the snow for me is telecommuting. Life is a lot easier without 2 hrs/day of driving and traffic.

I hope you're all staying warm!
