Fungus Among Us!

My sister and I have been riding our bikes at Parvin State Park several times a week. They have lots of trails, and one in particular is super for bicycles. I've been noticing an increasing number and variety of mushrooms, so over the weekend I took my camera along on the bike ride.

There were lots of plain old brown mushrooms:

Mushrooms with "knobby knees":

This one was an ice-blue color: This one was a creamy-buttery yellow:

This one was a bright sunny yellow to orange center:
This one looked like a red-skin potato:
This one looked too red to be real, but it was! Here is a scattering of some teeny tiny orange mushrooms:
This one had the feel of one of those latex Halloween masks:
This one stump looks like a rock-climbing wall for fairy creatures:
This one was so high I couldn't get a good picture of how orange it really is:
This one looks like a rose growing out of the top of this tree stump:
I know this next picture doesn't really belong, but something about this broken down tree makes me smile. Doesn't it look like a mailbox post? I call it Tree Mail!

Wet Dogs on Thursday

Happy Dogs on Thursday everyone! Two of the three four-legged residents of Britknitterville were definitely NOT happy this past weekend, because Saturday was the dreaded "Day of Beauty" for them. That's right...bath time for Cooper and Emma. We put if off for as long as we could, but the two orange-and-white brits had turned into orange-and-yellow brits. Tara managed to escape the Tub-of-Doom since she had been tortured a bath, not too long ago.

Here is the normally happy-go-lucky Cooper looking not so happy-go-lucky.

And here is the normally I-am-the-queen-of-the-world Emma looking royally pissed.

Emma and Cooper request anyone reading this blog post to please, please, please for the love of dog, call the ASPCA and report this cruel and unusual punishment.

Don't drink your coffee while watching this!

I found this video on Covered in Cat Hair's blog. Warning: If you are drinking beverages of any kind, please put them down,. I made the mistake of watching it while sipping my tea, and almost choked from laughing so hard.

We now return to our regularly scheduled...

...Dogs on Thursday post! The dogs are all very excited about their return to the blog after missing a couple of weeks. I tried to get all three together for a group picture, but trying to get these three to gather in one spot and sit still is a bit like herding cats---not to be attempted by the faint of heart. So, once again, individual pictures of the babes.

Cooper, goofy boy that he is, loves to post for the camera. Look at those ear hairs - all wispy and out of control. Typical old man...
Emma hates the camera and thinks that if she doesn't look at me, I can't take her picture. Silly girl.
Tara is just bored with the whole proceedings, and wishes I would just put the freakin' camera away already and give her a cookie. In short, everything is the same around here. I annoy the dogs, give them cookies, and they forgive me. The circle of life around here...

Crap, crap, crap...

I woke up this morning with every intention of getting caught up with blogging. It's been a while, I know. I've even missed a couple of Dogs on Thursday posts, and I always try to do Dogs on Thursday. Everything is fine here, the dogs are all good, but I've just been going through some crap. Not big time stuff, just little bits of crap, but it seems like it's in every aspect of my life at once so that there isn't a crap-free zone right now, and I haven't had the energy to do a crap-free blog post.

Anyway, with the best of intentions I turned on the laptop, and went to Google Reader to get caught up on all of my bloggy friends. Guess what... 219 unread posts. That's a lot of catching up to be done. CRAP! I think I'll just turn the computer off and curl up with Emma.
